PhD position in numerical modelling of seismic cycles in subduction zones

The Department of Earth Sciences at ETH Zurich seeks to appoint a PhD student in numerical modelling of seismic cycles in subduction zones. The successful applicant will join the multi-disciplinary Geophysical Fluid Dynamics group (GFD) and work in close collaboration with Prof. Taras Gerya and Dr. Luis Dalguer.
The candidate will further develop and apply a new generation of two- and three-dimensional seismo-thermo-hydro-mechanical geodynamic codes available at GFD for the modeling of spontaneous seismic rupture processes in subduction zones.
Candidates must hold an MSc in Earth Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline. Experience in geodynamics, earthquake rupture dynamic, numerical modelling and programming languages is highly advantageous
